I will wander til the end of time torn away from you… 52 Weeks of COlor Challenge Round 2, Week 12: St. Patrick’s Blue

She wakes up in a strange land, where everything is much bigger than her. It must be a dream, yet she can’t wake herself up, no matter how hard she tries. She’s dressed like a doll, complete with a tight corset, poofy skirt, and a key protruding from her back that seems to be covered in blood.

It takes a moment to realize she’s in a child’s toy room. There’s a perfect crack in the freshly painted table that seems to shift when she makes even the slightest movement, and she knows she has to find a way down before she meets a gruesome yet colorful end amongst piles of wood, plastic, and stale cupcakes.

She hears a slow, rhythmic booming noise and as she realizes it’s footsteps, she makes a flying leap off of the table to land on top of a Lego. She quickly brushes herself off and clambers up a giant Slinky, stopping somewhere in the middle and balancing herself while posing like a toy, hoping she goes unnoticed by whatever or whoever is approaching.

A pair of giant feet walks by, making her Slinky wobble but she wills herself to stay still. Once the room is still again, she gives it another minute or two before jumping down and scales a pile of books to get a better look at the room she’s stuck in. She finds nothing suggesting anybody she knows, that is until she sees an old-fashioned jewelry box with a doll perched in the center.

It’s not just a doll though. It’s not until she climbs up to the top and gets a closer look that she realizes it’s her mother, or at least what’s left of her. She steps onto a pearl and feels as if her movements are out of control, her limbs are bending, and her back is arching. She tries to move but her attempts only make things worse, locking her body more firmly into place.

Another rhythmic booming noise approaches, much quicker than the last, and it’s joined by a child’s laughter. It shakes her from the cursed jewelry box and she tumbles to the floor, landing on her stomach but quickly springing to her feet and running across a stretch of carpet to a dark corner, again posing like a doll, wondering if she will ever get out of this nightmare…

Side note… these boots and hair are amazing. Also, this dress is an oldie but a goodie. 🙂

Next week’s color is tea green. 🙂
